Voice and Sound Therapy

There is nothing quite like singing for generating the feel-good factor, and there is resounding proof that using our voice, particularly as part of a group, benefits us physically, psychologically and emotionally.

Research shows that singing boosts immunity, calms nerves, releases endorphins (the pleasure hormone) and releases oxytocin (the stress hormone).  It doesn’t matter what type of music it is or whether you sing in tune or not, all that matters is that you do it!

The power of music is a truly wonderful thing, proven by the fact that music stimulates more parts of the brain than any other human function. It has the ability to relax, stimulate, up-lift, de-stress, move us to tears, and unify.

So how can we use our own voice for healing?

Voice Therapy uses a combination of techniques to help us discover the full potential of our voice, from breath work and harmonic over-toning to singing & performing contemporary songs. This in turn enables us to explore the parts of our personality that we ordinarily suppress.

By allowing ourselves to use our voices freely and without inhibition, we are fulfilling one of the most fundamental needs as human beings – to have a voice, to express ourselves fully and to be heard.

The benefits that singing brings to your general wellbeing are far reaching:

  • Aerobic workout for heart & lungs
  • Strengthens immune system
  • Improves posture
  • Natural anti-depressant
