When did you last have a Health MOT?

March 27, 2019Seed AdminBlog

Here at Seed we passionately believe that prevention is better than cure. And while you may MOT your car every year, when was the last time you checked in with your health?

Seed’s Naturopath, Emma Burwash, talks about why a routine health check is so important and how naturopathy can support health.

Having worked in the NHS for 4 years, it became apparent to me that prevention is better than having a lifetime of popping pills.

Our medical system spends billions helping sick people become well. A routine health check enables health practitioners such as myself to work from a more preventative perspective, helping us to detect and subsequently address health issues before they become chronic.

What does a health check look at?

A routine GP health check looks at weight, height, blood pressure and possibly a blood test, assessing your risk of heart disease, kidney disease, stroke and diabetes. The NHS recommends a check every 5 years. This is great but there is a lot it doesn’t cover and it isn’t frequent enough.

A Naturopath looks at how your body is functioning on a deeper and more subtle level, identifying what may be causing certain health complaints by assessing the bigger picture of the client, ie lifestyle and diet choices, stress levels, nutritional levels, hormone balance, food sensitivities and allergies, environmental sensitivities, toxin levels and the health of internal organs.

Unlike a GP who prescribes a drug with a more one size fits all approach, Naturopaths use results from a health check to create an individually tailored programme of herbs, homeopathy, diet and nutritional supplements that addresses our clients’ specific needs. General ailments I personally treat include hormonal issues, skin complaints, digestive discomfort, anxiety and depression and fatigue. I recommend a health MOT at least once per year.

In my clinic I use a variety of techniques including a revolutionary bio-energetic machine called Asyra AT3. Designed by NASA scientists, this machine helps me to better pinpoint deficiencies / predispositions within the body. Bringing advanced computer technology and the ancient wisdom of traditional Chinese medicine together has enabled me to get a far deeper insight into my patients’ health status.

Emma is a Naturopath, Nutritionist and Kinesiologist with over 18 years of experience based in Jordans, Buckinghamshire.

A full health screen using the Asyra machine and including an initial consultation costs £100. Follow up appointments cost £70.
