How to OVERCOME INJURY – for good

Treating Injury:

Injury in whatever form is both debilitating and frustrating. Whether you are suffering from a new injury or dealing with an old one that doesn’t want to go away, the fact is that overcoming injury can be a long, arduous process.

The frontline medical response to non-acute common injuries is painkillers, anti-inflammatories and the likes of physiotherapy. Further NHS options such as MRI scans to diagnose / identify the problem often mean long waiting times.  And if the injury was the result of a traumatic event, it’s not just the body that needs help to heal… the mind does too.

Seed offers a wide range of healing modalities, from laser therapy to hands on body work, that aim to help you overcome injury safely and effectively.

 

SOFT TISSUE INJURIES / INFLAMMATION

Light Therapy – Ideal for soft tissue injuries (muscular, tendon & ligament damage) pain and inflammation. It’s also great for problematic skin

What is It? Light therapy uses Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) – a clinically proven method that offers extensive health benefits including tissue repair, reduced pain and inflammation.

How does it work? All cells are driven by energy, therefore the more energetic our cells, the more vibrant and healthier our body. It is simply an energy source of light that encourages our cells to start healing and regenerating.

LLLT provides an alternative to pharmaceuticals and surgery to treat long term, degenerative diseases. It aids soft tissue injuries (muscular, tendon & ligament damage); musculoskeletal conditions (Carpal Tunnel, RSI, TMJ, tennis elbow, frozen shoulder); Wound & fracture healing; brain injuries and strokes and more.

BACK / NECK / SHOULDER PAIN

Bowen Therapy – Great for whiplash & back / shoulder / head pain

What is it? The Bowen Technique is a gentle form of bodywork which can be used to treat pain and injury. It also helps to alleviate stress.

How does it work? The practitioner uses thumbs and fingers to perform gentle rolling movements over the muscles, tendons and soft tissue of the body, stimulating the nerve pathways creating a focus for the brain.

Each sequence of moves is followed by a short break. The short break allows the body to respond to the gentle moves and make subtle adjustments, which can help to rebalance, relieve tension and reduce pain.  Bowen therapy is about aiding the body to repair itself. This process of repair can carry on for some time after the session has finished.

Bowen therapy does not use manipulation.  However, it is a deeply powerful treatment that sees amazing results. Treatment can be applied directly onto the skin or through loose, non-slip clothing.

LONG-TERM INJURIES / PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)

Performance Kinesiology – Ideal for long-term injuries and PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder)

What is it? Kinesiology uses the method of muscle testing to locate tension, trauma, adaptions, misalignments and gait imbalances in the body. It also addresses the nutritional, emotional and energetic aspects of health with a range of gentle techniques that help to restore balance and alignment both physically and mentally.

How does it work? Sometimes the brain and subconscious mind keep mapping an area as injured, even if the tissue has healed. The brain may still send signals to the injured area to keep the pain receptors and sensory nerve endings active.  This is because the injury is not cleared at cellular level and it makes us more prone to new injuries. This also explains why pain continues to come and go or comes back years later.

Kinesiology helps the brain to acknowledge the injury has healed, thus releasing the trauma both physically and mentally. Subsequently, as well as helping the body to physically heal, this therapy has been an invaluable aid in the recovery of PTSD.

MUSCULAR PAIN & STRAIN / SPORTS INJURIES

Remedial Massage – great for releasing tension created from injury / physical trauma

What is it? Remedial massage is a form of bodywork that can treat specific areas or the whole body.

How does it work?  Massage works to manipulate soft tissue and fascia and thus release tension in areas of the body affected by an injury. Whilst specific areas can be treated, the idea is that since the muscles and fibres of the body are interconnected (think ‘the knee bones’ connected to the thigh bone’) the recommended approach is to treat the whole rather than the part.

Massage benefits the “whole” in many other positive ways. This includes alleviated physical and emotional stress through therapeutic touch, improved physical mobility, sleep and concentration, circulation and digestive health.
